Uttar Pradesh Launches Major Crackdown on Fake Bottled Water Brands ‘Bilseri’ and ‘Blesseri’

Statewide Crackdown to Stop Fake Bottled Water

Uttar Pradesh has started a strong action against fake bottled water brands. This follows the discovery of two illegal water bottling plants in Gautam Buddh Nagar. These plants were selling water under the names “Bilseri” and “Blesseri,” which look very similar to the popular brand Bisleri.

Health Risks and Warnings

The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) in Uttar Pradesh is increasing inspections across the state. Fake bottled water can harm people’s health. Officials have warned that they will punish illegal operations strictly. They will also continue checking all districts in the coming weeks.

Details of the Raids

On May 27, FSDA officers, led by Chief Food Safety Officer Virendra Dwivedi, raided the illegal plants. They acted on orders from the FSDA Commissioner and the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar.

  • Gupta Enterprises, located at Kasna, was bottling water without a valid license under the fake name “Bilseri.” Officials found 6,252 one-liter bottles, sealed 6,236, and took samples for testing. The plant has been shut down.
  • Parametro Wasser Technology Pvt Ltd, also in Kasna, bottled water under the name “Blesseri” without permission. Officers seized 6,856 bottles, sealed 6,840, and took samples. This plant is also closed.

Next Steps and Industry Impact

Authorities are testing all the samples in laboratories. They will take further legal action after the results come back. Experts say using names similar to “Bisleri” is both a health risk and a trademark violation. Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd. has not commented yet.

Ongoing Efforts for Consumer Safety

The FSDA will keep inspecting bottled water brands across Uttar Pradesh. Their goal is to protect consumers and stop fake products from entering the market. This crackdown is part of a larger effort to ensure food and drink safety in the state.
