Swift Police Action Ensures Safety Amid Sub-Zero Temperatures
Four tourists from Uttar Pradesh who went missing near Pangong Lake have been safely rescued in Ladakh, officials confirmed. The group included Yash Mittal, Shivam Chaudhary, Jaiveer Chaudhary, and Shadanshu Faujdar from Agra.
The tourists had lost contact with their families during their trip, prompting an urgent response from the Ladakh Police.
Details of the Incident
The tourists traveled to Pangong Lake in their private vehicle on January 9. While returning to Leh, they mistakenly took the Leh-Manali road, which was closed due to heavy snowfall.
Police quickly launched a coordinated search operation, focusing on areas around Sarchu, and discovered the tourists’ vehicle, which had sustained a minor roadside accident. The search was then extended to nearby locations, including Debring and Whisky Nalla.
Stranded Tourists Found in a Hut
Officials reported that the tourists had walked approximately 20 km from their abandoned vehicle and were found sheltering in a hut. They had spent two nights in their vehicle, relying on its heating system until the fuel ran out.
All four tourists were found in stable condition and provided with food, water, and necessary medical aid. They are scheduled to be handed over to their families upon arrival in Leh on Wednesday.
Police Response and Safety Measures
The swift action of the Ladakh Police and the well-coordinated rescue operation ensured that the tourists were brought to safety despite harsh sub-zero temperatures. Authorities emphasized the importance of following road closures and weather advisories while traveling in high-altitude regions.
