Uttar Pradesh Man Arrested for Killing 5-Year-Old Daughter Over Neighbor Dispute

A tragic incident has emerged from the Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh, where a father has been arrested for allegedly murdering his five-year-old daughter. The accused, Mohit Mishra, 40, had initially reported his daughter Tani missing but later confessed to her killing during a police investigation.

Daughter Reported Missing

On February 25, Mishra lodged a missing complaint at the Rampur Mathura police station, stating that his daughter had disappeared. The next day, February 26, villagers discovered a severed leg and other remains of a child in a mustard field, prompting an extensive police investigation.

Shocking Confession and Investigation

Following forensic analysis, authorities confirmed that the remains belonged to Tani. The post-mortem revealed that the child had been strangled to death.

As the investigation intensified, the Rampur Mathura police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) detained Mishra. During interrogation, he admitted to the crime, citing a long-standing dispute with his neighbor Ramu as the reason for his anger.

Father’s Anger Led to Murder

According to the police statement, Mishra had forbidden his children from visiting Ramu’s house due to their ongoing dispute. However, Tani defied his instructions and went there to play.

That evening, as Mishra was leaving his house, he saw Tani heading toward Ramu’s residence. Enraged, he took her on his motorcycle to a secluded location outside the village and strangled her. Later, wild animals mutilated her body.

Avoiding Arrest and Raising Suspicion

After committing the crime, Mishra abandoned his mobile phone and went into hiding, fearing arrest. He returned home but avoided answering questions about his daughter’s whereabouts, which raised suspicion among locals and authorities. As police intensified their probe, Mishra ultimately confessed to the murder.

Legal Action Taken

The police have filed a case against Mishra under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He has been taken into custody and sent to jail.

This tragic incident highlights the devastating consequences of personal disputes escalating into violence. Authorities continue to investigate the case to ensure justice for the young victim.
