In a significant crackdown, Telangana police’s SHE Cyber Lab, part of the Women Safety Wing, collaborated with West Bengal police to arrest a man involved in circulating child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The accused was apprehended in the Mongaldihi area of Birbhum district, West Bengal, following a detailed investigation.
Over 1,000 CSAM Videos Found on Mobile Device
During the raid, police seized the accused’s mobile phone, which contained over 1,000 videos of child pornography. Investigators discovered that the man distributed these videos across various Telegram groups and private digital channels. He also used adult private chat groups to circulate CSAM, monetizing the illegal activity through payment platforms like PhonePe and Paytm.
46 Linked Suspects Under Investigation
Further investigation revealed a network of 46 individuals connected to the suspect through CSAM purchases. Authorities are currently probing whether this group is part of a larger organized network.
Operation Led by Advanced Cyber Tools
The operation stemmed from routine cyber patrolling by SHE Cyber Lab, which employs advanced OSINT tools and specialized software to track suspicious online activities related to crimes against women and children.
SHE Cyber Lab’s Nationwide Efforts
SHE Cyber Lab has been instrumental in combating CSAM crimes across India. So far, it has identified 180 CSAM-related leads, shared 65 intelligence reports with police departments in 13 states, registered 20 FIRs, and facilitated the arrest of 21 individuals.
The lab also provides critical cyber forensic support, helping trace victims and perpetrators through advanced data analytics. It aims to address global concerns surrounding CSAM and protect women and children from such heinous crimes, said Shikha Goel, Director of the Women Safety Wing.
