The incident took place as Karishma was being transferred from the delivery ward to the ground floor in a hospital lift. During the descent, the lift cable snapped, causing the lift to crash and resulting in fatal head and neck injuries to Karishma. The two hospital employees who were with her in the lift also sustained injuries. They were rescued after a 45-minute struggle to break open the lift door.
Family’s Reaction and Hospital Chaos
After the tragic accident, Karishma’s family members gathered at the hospital and began protesting, blaming the hospital for negligence. Their frustration led to vandalism of hospital property, creating significant chaos in the facility. Amid the unrest, 13 other patients admitted to the hospital were transferred to a different medical center.
