Dubai Police Fines Dh50,000 After Child Caught Riding Quad Bike

Authorities in Dubai have taken strict action after a child was spotted riding a quad bike on a busy street. The incident, which involved another minor accompanying the rider, posed serious risks to both the children and other road users. As a result, the vehicle was impounded, and the guardian was fined Dh50,000.

Swift Police Action

Dubai Police officers acted quickly to stop the child and ensure safety. They summoned the guardian and secured the quad bike on the spot. Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs, confirmed the fine was issued under Decree No. 30 of 2023. While the guardian claimed ignorance of traffic rules, legal procedures were still initiated.

Child Safety and Legal Responsibilities

Authorities emphasized that Wadeema’s Law protects children from exposure to danger and neglect. Allowing minors to operate vehicles on public roads is extremely hazardous because children cannot fully assess risks or respond to sudden traffic situations.

Al Mazrouei warned that such behaviour could lead to serious accidents or fatalities. Therefore, parents must closely supervise their children and ensure they do not operate vehicles before reaching the legal driving age and obtaining a licence.

Recreational Vehicles Must Stay Off Public Roads

Police reminded the public that recreational vehicles are designed only for closed, designated areas under adult supervision. They should never be used on busy streets where they can endanger both riders and others.

Furthermore, authorities urged parents to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities, noting that ignorance of the law is not an excuse for unsafe practices.

Public Cooperation Encouraged

Dubai Police encouraged citizens to report unsafe behaviour through the Call Centre at 901 or via the Police Eye mobile application. Officials assured that strict enforcement will continue against anyone who endangers children or other road users.

By taking these measures, authorities aim to enhance child safety, prevent accidents, and ensure public roads remain secure for everyone.
