Uttar Pradesh Emerges as Growth Engine of Viksit Bharat with Mega Investments and Job Creation

Uttar Pradesh is transforming into the growth engine of Viksit Bharat, shedding its old BIMARU image. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made these remarks at the opening of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS 2025) in Greater Noida. The event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Strong Connectivity Attracts Investors

Yogi Adityanath highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s road, rail, air, and water connectivity. As a result, the state has become an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign investors.

“UPITS is more than a trade exhibition. It turns Antyodaya into Rashtroraya and strengthens PM Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through the Swadeshi Make in India model,” he said.

Mega Investments Boost Industrial Growth

At the UP Global Investors Summit 2023, proposals worth ₹40 lakh crore were received. Out of these, projects worth over ₹12 lakh crore are already underway. Upcoming projects worth ₹5 lakh crore are planned for November.

The trade show features 2,250 exhibitors from 75 districts and 550 buyers from 80 countries. It highlights the state’s industrial growth, traditional enterprises, and cultural heritage.

MSMEs Drive Employment

Uttar Pradesh supports over 96 lakh MSME units, providing jobs for more than 2 crore youth. After agriculture, MSMEs have become the second-largest employment sector, contributing to a self-reliant India.

Leading in Geographical Indications (GI)

UP holds 77 GI tags, making it India’s top GI capital. This year, applications are being filed for 75 additional GI products. Over 60 GI-tagged stalls showcase the state’s heritage and craftsmanship.

IT, Electronics, and Semiconductor Hub

UP contributes 55% of India’s mobile phone production and over 50% of mobile components. The state is now a global hub for IT and electronics, with major investments in semiconductors. The government has officially recognized IT as a key industry.

“We aim to reduce foreign dependence and use local resources. Industry, academia, R&D, and society must work together for a developed India,” CM Adityanath said.

Inclusive Development for Youth

Ahead of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, UP plans 100-acre industrial and employment zones in every district. These zones will provide support for self-employment, skill development, MSMEs, and banking services, helping youth start businesses and find jobs.

GST Reforms Strengthen Economy

The Next-Generation GST reforms reduced tax slabs from four to two. This simplification has boosted consumption, entrepreneurship, and employment. Yogi Adityanath said the reforms benefit farmers, traders, women, and youth.

Uttar Pradesh is now a model of industrial growth, youth employment, and cultural revival. The state is leading India towards Viksit Bharat.
