Uttar Pradesh Leads India’s Defence Manufacturing with BrahMos Facility and Titanium Plant Launch

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s proactive governance, Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a major hub for defence manufacturing and self-reliance.

Major Milestone: BrahMos Facility Launched

On Sunday, a major step was taken with the launch of the BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility at the Lucknow node of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. Additionally, India’s first private facility for titanium and super alloy manufacturing was also inaugurated.

World’s Largest Titanium Recycling Capacity

Officials confirmed that, for the first time in India, a facility with the world’s largest capacity for titanium remelting and recycling has been established at a single site. This marks a big leap for India’s defence and aerospace sectors.

New Manufacturing Units Announced

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and CM Yogi Adityanath also laid the foundation stones for four new advanced manufacturing plants:

  • Aerospace Precision Casting Plant for jet engine and aircraft components
  • Aerospace Forge Shop and Mill Products Plant for titanium bars, rods, and sheets
  • Precision Machining Shop for ultra-fine jet engine parts
  • Strategic Powder Metallurgy Facility, India’s first to produce titanium and alloy powders with local technology

Focus on Skills and Innovation

The new campus will also include:

  • Stride Academy to train youth in defence and aerospace skills
  • A dedicated Research & Development Centre to promote innovation and indigenous tech

Global Expertise Joins the Effort

In a major move, Aeroloy has acquired UK-based Track Precision Solutions, a company known for jet engine components. This will help bring global technology and expertise into India’s growing defence sector.

Reducing Imports, Boosting Exports

India currently spends about ₹6.5 lakh crore on defence annually, with nearly ₹2.5 lakh crore going towards imports. The joint effort by the Modi and Yogi governments aims to reduce this dependency and position India as a global exporter of defence equipment.
